Deaconess and Valley Hospital Cafeterias Go Heart Healthy

Deaconess and Valley Hospital Cafeterias Go Heart Healthy

What started as a proposed idea for positive change at a Pulse leadership conference has come to fruition this month. A heart healthy meal of seared salmon cakes with aioli, roasted fingerling potatoes and steamed broccoli was a big hit with Deaconess cafeteria customers. Given continued demand and popularity with the Pulse Heart Healthy Day, the Deaconess cafeteria will offer a heart healthy meal every Wednesday moving forward.

Heart healthy meals also debuted this month at Valley Hospital. Through February on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, a special heart healthy meal option will be offered at the bistro. Each meal comes with a fresh berry medley cup (blueberries, blackberries, strawberries). These heart healthy meals have been so popular they’ve been selling out.

Thank you to INW Directors Andrew Smith and Bryan Garrett for their leadership on this project and to the many others who made this heart healthy program a reality: Wade Hunt, Deaconess COO, Eric Pruett, Manager of Nutrition Services, Sandy Wesefeldt-Zobell, Dietetic Tech, Christine Lowman, Exercise Specialist, and Chandra Bennett, Marketing Coordinator. Your time and energy brought this to life – great work everyone!
