Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle for a Healthy Heart

Heart disease is a serious problem in the United States. It’s the leading cause of death for both men and women, with around 610,000 deaths each year. What’s more, every year about 735,000 Americans have a heart attack.

Some risk factors for heart disease, such as age, gender and family history, are beyond your control. But, fortunately, many risk factors — like diet, smoking and exercise — are things that you can change to reduce your risk and protect your heart.

Pulse Heart Institute’s Center for Prevention and Outreach offers a Cardiovascular Health program and support to the community to:

  • Increase awareness of the dangers of heart disease
  • Promote healthy lifestyle choices
  • Help people modify risk factors to improve cardiac health
